"Leaders Who Get Things Done"

Rolling Stone magazine recently published a list of leaders who make a difference by making things happen, "The Quiet Ones: 12 Leaders Who Get Things Done." Among the impressive dozen are several standouts from Aspen Ideas.

Attorney General of California Kamala Harris is known for combatting violence and fighting too-big-to-fail-banks on mortgage fraud. She presented at Aspen Ideas in 2010, while she was still the DA of San Francisco. Harris spoke about the link between race and criminal justice.

Newark mayor Cory Booker has been a presenter at the Festival a couple of times now. Touted for reducing crime and getting donors to invest in the New Jersey's education, Booker has proven he's a hands on politician.

Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has helped his beleaguered city through innovative tax measures that provide a reported $35 billion in revenues for transportation. Watch the two of them discuss improving cities through improving schools:

Rebuild the Dream founder Van Jones, photo at top, was a presenter at 2008's Aspen Ideas, where he spoke about Green for All and the connections between environmental, economic, and social degradation.

Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America's executive director Paul Rieckhoff participated in last year's Festival as an Aspen Ideas Scholar.

Congratulations to all of them for being recognized as arbiters of change.
