The American Experience (July 2 - 8)

Sponsored by Allstate

At a time when American politics reflect sharp divisions along ideological, economic, geographic, and racial lines, both war and natural disaster have prompted a discourse on the country’s values and aspirations. While the national debate begins to shift to the coming presidential election, a majority of citizens express concern about the country’s direction. Many question the reality of the “American Dream” and what the future will bring for our children. Over the course of the week, this track will discuss key themes in American history and in contemporary society; leadership in America, and critical issues that face this nation, from immigration, race, and poverty to questions of pluralism, religiosity and ideology.
