Science and Society (July 2 - 5)

Science may be more important to our daily lives today than ever before, but its role in modern American society is complicated. American schools struggle to make the grade in science education, while political debates pit science against faith. Where will science take us in the 21st century? What are the most daunting obstacles to progress? How can vital scientific concepts and discoveries be communicated effectively to the public? This track will explore the current state of scientific inquiry and creativity, and it will examine competing views of the future — and the nature — of dilemmas inherent in scientific endeavor.
