Theodore B. Olson Theodore B. Olson

is a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP and co-chair of the firm’s Appellate and Constitutional Law and Crisis Management Practice groups. He was the 42nd US solicitor-general and assistant attorney general in charge of the office of legal counsel. Olson has argued 56 cases before the US Supreme Court, including Bush v. Gore, Citizens United v. FEC, Caperton v. Massey, Rasul v. Bush, and cases involving telecommunications, antitrust, the environment, and numerous constitutional provisions. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers. He was co-chair of the Aspen Institute’s Knight Commission on the Information Needs of Communities in a Democracy and a member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board.
