Austan Goolsbee Austan Goolsbee

is chief economist of the president’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board and a member of the Council of Economic advisers. Previously, Goolsbee was the Robert P. Gwinn Professor of Economics
 at the University of Chicago’s Booth Graduate School of Business, where he is on leave.
 He formerly served as a member of the Panel of Economic Advisors to the Congressional Budget Office, has been a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, and has been a research fellow at the American Bar Foundation. He was also formerly a senior economist to the Democratic Leadership Council and the Progressive Policy Institute. Goolsbee was also once a columnist at both The New York Times and Slate. He was recently a Fulbright Scholar and a recipient of an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship.
