Kurt Campbell Kurt Campbell

is CEO and co-founder of the Center for a New American Security. He is also director of the Aspen Strategy Group, founder and principal of StratAsia, and chairman of The Washington Quarterly editorial board. Previously, Campbell served as Henry A. Kissinger Chair in National Security, senior vice president, and director of the International Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Campbell has held several government positions, including deputy assistant secretary of defense for Asia and the Pacific. Campbell was associate professor of Public Policy and International Relations at the John F. Kennedy School of Government and assistant director of the Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University. He is co-author of Hard Power: The New Politics of National Security (Basic Books, 2006).
