Edith Widder Edith Widder

is the president and senior scientist of the Ocean Research & Conservation Association. She is a deep-sea explorer and an internationally recognized expert in bioluminescence and technology development. She founded ORCA for the study and protection of aquatic ecosystems and the species they sustain through development of innovative technologies and science-based conservation action. She is a recent MacArthur Fellow with a passionate concern for protecting Planet Ocean. To that end, she and the ORCA team have been focusing in on what she believes to be one of the greatest challenges to the environment: tracking and preventing nonpoint source pollution.
